Katawaz earrings/temple adornments, Pakistan

Old temple adornments from the nomads of Katawaz in Pakistan.

High-grade silver (acid tested) with gilded remains on the front side and glass beads. Extraordinary and fine granulated decoration and the original strand of very small glass beads all around.

From the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century.

According to van Cutsem, the representation of the sun shown on these pieces, might derive from ancient pre-Islamic cults, or be the results of the influence of nearby India.
