Old Gujarati earrings called “Nagali”, worn by the Dhebaria Rabari, living is South Saurashtra and Kutch, India.
From the beginning of the 20th century or earlier.
The elongated small basket-like openings could be filled with perfume-soaked cotton.
Good silver content (acid tested), finely decorated and with extraordinary patina. Nowadays they are not in use anymore.
These earrings measure 37 mm high and 2,7 cm wide (1,06 in).
They are worn in stretched earlobe holes.
They both weigh 18 gr.
