Egyptian glass bead necklace “Bogma”
colorful glass beads necklace called “Bogma” (pectoral) from the Bahariya oasis in Egypt.
From the second half of the 20th Century. It still keeps the original string.
Merchants bring the beads from Cairo or Alexandria to the oasis, and the girls make necklaces following their own designs. These necklaces are much like the pectoral ornaments also made with colorful beads from Nubia and other African regions.
It fastens with a button.
The pectoral measures 10 cm wide (3,94 inches) and 49 cm long (with string) (19,29 in).
