Silver and gold amulet necklace, Oman
Omani amulet called “samt mukahhal” accompanied by 2 red glass beads and engraved on the back with protective words and symbols. The front part is decorated with gold and niello appliqués.
The figure seen on the back of the pendant represents a spirit or djinn in the form of a female figure. The figure is bound hand and foot to restrict his evil power.
This disc was traditionally manufactured by goldsmiths from the interior of the country.
