Pair of “messiassa” bracelets, Algeria
Matching pair of old Berber silver bracelets, from Algeria, called “Mesiassa”. Beautiful openwork and filigree, with an extraordinary old patina. The silver content is very good. These were mainly worn in Alger.
This type of hinged bracelets is usually worn by pairs, one on each arm.
From the beginning of the 20th century.
There’s a small piece of silver missing in one of the sides (see pictures), and the original pins to fasten the bracelets are lost.
The inside perimeter is 19 cm (7,48 in) and the inside diameter is 6 cm (2,36 in).
They weigh together around 65 gr.
