Ivory pendant, Dinka people, Sudan

Ivory pendant decorated with small dots used by Dinka people in Sudan as a counterweight, attached to a necklace made of glass beads that is offered from the husband to the wife.

The horn-shaped pendant shows how important are herds for this cattle breeders.

From the beginning of the 20th century or earlier. The object has been examined by an ivory appraiser and has a certificate stating that the ivory predates 1947.
