Ladakh belt ornament, North India

Pierced and embossed brass disk in the form of the luck-bringing “Endless knot”, from Ladakh, Nort India. It holds six streamers of cowrie shells.

It hangs from the waist attached to a silk waistband, and it is an important part of Ladakhi female costume.

First half of XXth century.
