Madhya Pradesh and Orissa silver bracelet, India

Rigid high-grade silver bracelet from Madhya Pradesh in India, called “nagmuri”. Rathva women wear these bracelets in thick undulant (simulating a snake) silver wire on the upper part of the arm. According to Untracht, similar examples are also worn in Balangir District in Orissa.

From late 19th or early 20th century.
