Mizoran Burmite amber necklace, Myanmar

Mizoran necklace, from NE India or Burma, made of natural amber from Myanmar, worn by Mizo women, inhabiting NE India or Myanmar. Burmese amber is also known as burmite or “patlokan”.

From 1st half of XXth century or older.

Provenance: ex-UK private collection.

Burmite was already known in China in the Han period (2nd C BD – 2nd C AD). It’s much appreciated for the brown-red color.

The necklace is 77 cm long
It weighs 139,6 gr
