Tekke hear ornament “Egme”, Central Asia
Ornamental frontal plate which forms part of bridal jewellery, from the Tekke tribe of the Merv oasis.
Made of high-grade silver and carnelian gemstones. The plate is sewn on a hat. According to Truus Daaler, this kind of egme was in fashion only for a few decades.
Late 19th or early 20th century.
