Silver box “sanduq” for a man’s belt, Yemen

Old silver box for men that was attached to the belt, to store small things, with fine filigree and granulated decoration. On the top left side, it shows signs of an old restoration.

According to Anne Leurquin, the “sanduq” shows the wealth and social rank of the wearer.

Made of silver (around 700/1000).

From the 1st half of XXth Century.
